Connu pour ses oeuvres, installations et performances monochromatiques, Terence Koh est pour la première fois de sa carrière à Paris pour une exposition individuelle.

Du 6 octobre au 14 novembre 2009, il est l’invité de la galerie Thaddaeus Ropac où il montrera un opéra imaginaire en 8 actes, intitulé Adansonias. Le premier acte sera présenté lors de l’inauguration du show le mardi 6 octobre à 20h, alors que le dernier sera dévoilé pendant la FIAC. Entre les performances, l’artiste produira des dessins, collages et photographies, basés sur les scènes de la pièce.

D’après le commissaire de l’exposition :
"Known for his monochromatic installations, and ritualistic performances, Terence Koh will transform the ground floor of the gallery into an all-white set for an opera in which he will play the main character alongside eight white-clad performers. Within the story, loosely based on The Little Prince, we find elements from Samuel Beckettʼs Waiting for Godot and the French New Wave, punctuated by experimental live music and singing – Koh will play a piece of music composed using only the white keys of a piano (a reference to Anton Reicha, who used innovative methods of composition) – immersing the public into the artistʼs unique cosmos. Koh has invited surprise guest actors to perform on the opening night of the first act of Adansonias."
