In the year of Football EuroChamps, Nike celebrates the Beautiful Game by launching Art of Football project on Nike1-1.com platform.

Art is a cultural amplifier ; Football is more than just a game. Art of Football/1-1 project aims to look at how Art and Football can share languages and emotions.

Nike appointed Nick Knight and Showstudio as curator of the initiative, and five international artists as Founders of the project : Solve Sundsbo, Gareth Pugh, Ewen Spencer, Mike&Rebecca, Joel Tettamanti.

The project was launched on April 15th 2008, in Milan, with an art exhibition showcasing five football-inspired artworks created by the 1/1 Founders’ artists, along with 11 artworks created by the 1/1 Associates Collective, a group of 11 artists from 11 different countries selected by Nick Knight and Showstudio.
Contemporarily, on nike1-1.com it was launched the creative Art of Football contest : a call to action to artists to express football through the lens of art.

From April 15th to May 18th more than 1500 artists from all over the world subscribed on nike1-1.com website, and submitted their own ‘’Art Of Football’’ artworks.
Eleven artists have been selected among all the subscribers .by Nick Knight and Showstudio : the 1/1 Challengers Collective.

Art of Football now brings to Basel the three Collectives together - Founders (5), Associates (11) and Challengers (11), in a powerful new art exhibition. A genuine and unexpected mix of emotions, a unique moment in time in the city of the Art Fair and Euro Championship kick off match, where Art emotions and Sport emotions live together thanks to Football.
